Anne Discher became the executive director of the Center in January 2018. She served as interim executive director during 2017 and prior to that was the Center’s communication director and senior research associate. She has a particular interest in translating data and research into materials useful for advocates, policymakers and the broader community.
Her prior experience includes neighborhood organizing, local-government reporting for a community newspaper and research on social and tax-base disparities in U.S. metropolitan areas.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. She and her three school-aged children live in Des Moines.
