Partners and coalitions

BUILD Initiative

CFPC is the national evaluation partner of the BUILD Initiative, which works with early-childhood leaders within states and nationally to better prepare young children to thrive and succeed. BUILD supports state leaders from both the private and public sectors as they work to set policy, offer services and advocate for children from birth to age five. Specifically, the BUILD Initiative helps state leaders develop an early-childhood system – programs, services and policies tailored to the needs of the state’s unique young-child population.

Campaign for Grade-Level Reading

The Campaign is a collaborative effort by foundations, nonprofit partners, states and communities across the nation to ensure that more children in low-income families succeed in school and graduate prepared for college, a career, and active citizenship. The Campaign focuses on the most important predictor of school success and high school graduation—grade-level reading by the end of third grade. CFPC has worked in partnership with the Campaign nationally and in Iowa.

Children's Policy Coalition

Every Child Counts, CFPC’s advocacy initiative, staffs the Children’s Policy Coalition, a group of 30-plus Iowa organizations committed to raising children’s issues to prominence in elections. The coalition publishes voter’s guides and candidate questionnaires, sponsors candidate forums and encourages candidates to specifically address child-policy issues in campaign events and debates.

Coalition for a Better Iowa

CFPC is a member of the Coalition for a Better Iowa, a broad coalition of Iowa organizations representing children, seniors, faith, human service providers, research, advocates, labor and environmental organizations advocating for the state to maintain and strengthen high-quality public services and structures that promote thriving communities and prosperity for all Iowans.

Early Childhood Iowa

Early Childhood Iowa is an alliance of stakeholders supporting the development and integration of an early care, health and education system for the state's youngest children. CFPC staff members are active members of ECI's leadership groups, and CFPC recently completed a comprehensive early-childhood needs assessment on its behalf.

1st Five

CFPC is the state evaluator of Iowa's 1st Five Healthy Mental Development Initiative. 1st Five builds partnerships between physician practices and public service providers to enhance high-quality well-child care. 1st Five promotes the use of developmental tools that support healthy mental development for young children during the first five years. By using tools that includes social-emotional development and family risk factors, providers are able to identify children at risk for developmental concerns that, if left untreated, would play out later in life.

Iowa Fiscal Partnership

The Iowa Fiscal Partnership is a joint initiative of CFPC and another nonpartisan organization, the Iowa City-based Iowa Policy Project. The partnership provides reliable information and analysis on Iowa budget and tax issues.

Kids Count

CFPC is the long-time Iowa grantee of KIDS COUNT®, a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. KIDS COUNT is a national and state-by-state effort to track the well-being of children in the United States. By providing high-quality data and trend analysis, KIDS COUNT seeks to enrich local, state and national discussions concerning ways to secure better futures for all children — and to raise the visibility of children's issues through a nonpartisan, evidence-based lens.
