Making Connections
Des Moines is one of ten communities that has been part of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Making Connections Initiative. The goal of Making Connections is to rebuild inner-city neighborhoods and improve results for children through strengthening families, creating economic opportunity, and building social ties.
CFPC has produced a number of documents for the Making Connections Initiative, including a number of performing census-tract level analyses of school, human services, corrections, health, and census data. CFPC also represents Des Moines as a member of the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership (NNIP), a collaborative effort by the Urban Institute and thirty local partners to further the development and use of neighborhood-level information systems in local policy making and community building.
